Centuries of history and conquest have forged the peculiar character of one of Sicily’s most inscrutable cities. Palaces, some in ruins and others that conserve the splendor of the past, border its narrow streets. Palermo’s marinas are excellent and the coastline is dotted with beautiful villages and coves.
