The dream of any golf aficionado is to live in a place like this one. – at least for a couple of days- The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa has the privilege of being located on the most famous golf course in the world: the Old St. Andrews, and as if this wasn’t enough, it offers views to the legendary 17th hole, known as the “Road Hole.” The views toward the North Sea and the sprawling Duke championship courses, designed by Peter Thomson and renovated by Tim Liddy, make this an ideal places for golf enthusiasts who simply wish to be spectators, or form part of a casual round.

The culinary options are spread over four pubs and restaurants, amongst them, a traditional pub that dates back to 1850, a favorite spot to remember days of yore and to indulge in friendly conversation amongst golfers, locals, and the occasional celebrity.

 

 

The Road Hole Restaurant, the main dining hall of the hotel, has earned multiple awards and was baptized as the “home of Scottish cuisine in golf’s birthplace,” it boasts multiple views of the sea, as well as the Old Course, and features a signature dish, Gigha halibut with roasted garlic risotto.
