With its unique design, sophisticated manufacture movement, and artisanal finish, the Lange 1 embodies the essence of the A. Lange & Söhne philosophy.

For thirty years, the Lange 1 has forged its own path. Its characteristic off-center dial and signature Lange outsize date have lost none of their allure since their debut in 1994.

To mark the anniversary, the manufactory presents a version of the Lange 1 in 950 platinum with a black onyx dial and a version in pink gold with a blue dial, each limited to 300 pieces. With a case diameter of 36.8 mm (1.7 mm smaller than its larger counterpart), the Little Lange 1 is also available in both color combinations, limited to 150 pieces each.

The distinctive dial layout accounts for the unmistakable appearance of the Lange 1. Adorned with Roman numerals and lancet-shaped appliques, the large hour and minute circle sits on the left, while the outsize date, power-reserve indicator, and subsidiary seconds dial are positioned on the right, aligned along an imaginary vertical axis.

Unlike any other complication, it sets the dials of many of our watches apart. The striking outsize date is displayed in two apertures, offering a display approximately three times larger than that of watches of similar dimensions.

 

 

Through the sapphire-crystal case back, the movement’s artisanal finish is visible—specifically the untreated German silver three-quarter plate, decorated with the Glashütte ribbing motif. Eight screwed gold chatons, secured by blued screws, add touches of color that contrast with the rest of the mechanism.

While all our balance cocks are adorned with the same traditional floral motif, each one is unique. Every engraver has a personal style and an individual interpretation of the motif—much like a fingerprint. This makes each balance cock a truly original piece.

The manually wound manufacture calibre L121.1, comprising 368 parts, is assembled twice and ensures an instantaneous date change at midnight. It features a gear train that includes a balance wheel with eccentric poising weights and an in-house free-sprung hairspring. The reliable twin mainspring barrel ensures a 72-hour power reserve.
