There is something about Balmain that makes each piece instantly desirable, readily evident in the growing demand for these eccentric pieces. Perhaps it is something inherent to the brand and its history, or a combination of that and creative director Olivier Rousteing’s youthful originality. The designer presented his new spring collection for the fashion house surrounded by some of the most prominent names walking the runways today, hosted at the Palais Garnier—the place that inspired him to become a designer when he was 10 years old. Equally creative, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia honor Oscar de la Renta with their second collection inspired by his signature, which will also become the brand’s new logo. De la Renta was an art lover, giant creator and fashion visionary. Kim and Garcia used his passions as a model to shape each piece with volume, color and glamour. On the other hand, Carolina Herrera introduces an upbeat, colorful spring collection, aiming to achieve a feminine look which portrayed the essence of the brand, and that at the same time could push the boundaries a bit further with youthful pieces. With these savvy designers, the colors of spring are finally here and ready to wear.

BALMAIN

“My generation’s distinctive spirit, values and taste are echoed in the rebellious attitude of the Balmain Army, the diversity of our runway and the singular tailoring of the house’s offerings.”

CAROLINA HERRERA

“Colors are a part of fashion and art. Fashion is not exactly like art because fashion is art in motion. You have to move. You have to wear it.”
