Inspired by Mission: Impossible, Pelorus presents an adventure for travelers who wish to channel Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in the world’s ultimate sensory hub: India.
From the moment you arrive in Mumbai until the mission concludes in Hyderabad, you will step into the role of an operative on a mission. You’ll follow a trail of clues that leads from bustling city streets into dense jungles, across winding rivers, past forgotten tombs, and ultimately into the heart of one of the world’s oldest empires.
The mission begins the moment you land in Mumbai. What if the greatest secret in India’s modern history wasn’t hidden away in a government vault, but was actually in plain sight? Recruited for a covert operation, your objective is to recover a long-lost military secret—purportedly created in the lead-up to India’s nuclear program in the 1970s.
Guided only by the name "Agent Sarita," you will uncover fragments of a code at each location—a code that bridges ancient wisdom with modern scientific discovery, revealing the dark forces that were at play during the colonial era in Mumbai.
Navigate the "City of Dreams," immersing yourself in its vibrant historic center, where clues lie hidden within the everyday rhythm of local life. From the iconic railway station and a street-side vada pav (a local delicacy) stall to the colorful streets of Colaba, your investigation will plunge you deep into the heart of Mumbai.
As night falls, you’ll also have the option to undertake a side mission: infiltrate a private exhibition of folk art from Shajapur—recreating an iconic scene from Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Amidst the music, art, and dance, you must search for the first piece of the puzzle: the name of your next destination.
Discover the Denwa
With new information in hand, it is time to venture into the jungle. Fly east to the fringes of Satpura National Park, then set off on a reconnaissance safari by jeep through the region’s ancient forest—a landscape of deep valleys, waterfalls, and vast teak woodlands. Track the movements of tigers, sloth bears, and leopards alongside expert guides as the daylight begins to fade.
Here, you must sharpen your senses to the jungle environment as you prepare to traverse this leopard-inhabited territory on foot, hiking and spending the next two nights in tents.
The following morning, you will leave the vehicles behind. At daybreak, embark on a full-day trek toward an ancient military site. The trail descends sharply through the forest, following the course of a stream—the lifeblood of the jungle—until you reach a private mobile camp set up exclusively for you on a sandy stretch of the Denwa River.
The second day of the trek follows the river’s path, navigating high sandbanks and narrow channels—at times requiring you to wade through knee-deep water—to reach your second campsite. Your only companions here are the eagles and vultures nesting in the surrounding cliffs.
Tales of the Tungabhadra
Your mission will take you to Hampi [opening photo], where the landscape shifts dramatically from dense forests to a surreal world of towering granite boulders and forgotten temples. There, you will discover the ancient capital of the Vijayanagara Empire from above, taking to the skies before dawn for a hot-air balloon flight over the historic horizon of Hampi.
Gaze upon the ruined shrines and watch as the winding Tungabhadra River slowly emerges from the mist, revealing its significance. In the cool morning light, set out along the ancient Virupaksha path, ascending the sacred slopes of Hemakuta Hill, where the next chapter of this fascinating history unfolds.
That afternoon, wander through the old commercial streets of Vithalapura—once a thriving district where merchants from Persia, Portugal, and across Asia traded in precious stones, spices, and silks. At its heart stands the magnificent Vijaya Vittala Temple, considered the pinnacle of Dravidian architecture in southern India.
Admire the iconic Stone Chariot as a local historian brings to life the legends carved into the surrounding walls, masterfully revealing the hidden meaning behind every intricate detail.
The final leg of the journey takes you to Hyderabad, where the ancient and the modern converge. Few cities guard their secrets as zealously as the "City of Pearls," which you will soon discover as you wander through the vibrant streets of Laad Bazaar, where generations of artisans continue to handcraft Hyderabad’s celebrated lacquer bangles.
Hidden behind bustling storefronts and workshops, the network of "Agent Sarita" emerges, leading you to the magnificent courtyard of the Mecca Masjid—one of the grandest mosques in India. Here, in the Old City, you will uncover the true connection between the shores of Mumbai—the first leg of your mission—and the origin of many of its greatest treasures, all while working to recover an object concealed within the shadows.
Tonight, you will be accommodated in an exquisitely restored palace, originally built for an influential nobleman of the Hyderabad court. Don your finest traditional attire and prepare for a dazzling, unparalleled royal reception, where you will receive your final instructions. In a concluding act of espionage, uncover the alliances and decisions that shaped the destiny of one of India’s wealthiest kingdoms—a fitting, spectacular finale to this extraordinary tale.
Rise early and ascend to the summit of Golconda Fort, before concluding your journey at the Qutb Shahi Tombs—one of India’s most magnificent mausoleum complexes—where you will finally solve the mystery buried alongside the seven sultans, successfully completing your mission.
