Luxury and sustainability inside one of Africa’s most breathtaking settings

Located in the productive and phenomenally diverse north-eastern corner of the Akagera Na-tional Park, Magashi Camp overlooks the dazzling Lake Rwanyakazinga. The park is comprised of some of the most breathtaking scenic views in East Africa: open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamps, and grassy low mountains. To boot, it is home to one of the highest hippo populations, as well as large crocodiles and over 520 bird species.

The camp contains six spaciously fresh tents decorated in a tasteful contemporary style with en-suite bathrooms and lush amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible in this wild environment. The camp’s main area features a luxurious lounge, dining and bar areas, pool, and an expansive viewing deck with a welcoming fire pit. Decorations at the camp reflect the local traditional Rwandan culture.

Outdoor activities reign supreme at Magashi, were guests are encouraged to partake in boating, fishing, and the now-famous night game drives: after dusk, guests can ride on open 4x4 vehicles around Akagera to observe the animal activity

at its rawest.

As with other Wilderness Safari camps, contact and socializing with the locals is part of the adventure. Magashi offers guided to tours to local farms and villages where visitors can dig in and learn about the history of the park and its surroundings.

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of staying at Magashi Camp is that guests will be directly contributing to the conservation of Rwanda’s last protected savannah ecosystem and species, such as the critically endangered black rhino.
