For lovers of archeology, the Shetland Islands is an ideal place to visit. With over 5,000 sites to explore, from the Neolithic to the Age of Bronze, this place is a historic treasure. Each winter, the Lerwick Up Helly Aa is celebrated, a fire festival in which men dress as Vikings and reenact battles. The “ferry” ride to the islands is a feast to the eyes, a small sample of the beautiful solitude that will accompany travellers.
